“Victim of Circumstance”
Solomon Northup wrote the book 12 Years a Slave back in 1853 as a memoir to his dramatic experience in slavery that started through a kidnapping that resulted into being sold as a slave. Before his terrible ordeal he was a free man working as a violist.

What happened to Solomon is something that happens to all of us at one time or another and to differing degrees or levels. He was simply a victim of circumstance.

One reason I enjoy his story, one that was also turned into an award winning film, is because it portrays a man that continually was able to build impressions upon others even in the midst of his circumstances.

How was he able to do that? He did it with faith. His faith helped him to endure. We all fall victim to circumstance. It’s part of being human. How we go through them shows what we’re made of on the inside.

Make faith an important component in your life as you build your impressions.
