Let Your Light Shine

The bible says to be a light in the world. In other words, even if you are not a bible believer, I think most people can agree that everybody has gifts. Some people use their gifts while others, for whatever reasons, don’t … or can’t.

A simple definition of gifts is time, talent and treasure. We each possess these at different levels at any given moment. How we use them determines how bright our light shines.

Sometimes there are things going on in our lives that prevent the light from shining, like a flashlight turned off or sitting on the shelf. I once illustrated this point to a room full of kids by bringing a flashlight that would not turn on until they figure out that they needed to take it apart. To their surprise, on the inside I had stuffed it full of junk. In order to get the light to work they had to get rid of the junk and replace it with fresh batteries.

In order to let your light shine brighter you might have to get rid of some junk.
